Connect your telephone or modem to the ???Phone??? jack on the splitter. The
connections for a DSL modem are shown in Figure 1-3.

Performing Steps 1 and 2 results in a connection configuration similar to the schematic
shown in Figure 1-4??”a main phone connection distributed to multiple phone
jacks, and a DSL filter or splitter between the jacks and your phones or modem.
It may be possible to simplify your connections by using a single DSL splitter/
filter??”the filter side of the splitter for multiple phone jacks, and the DSL side of the
splitter feeding a dedicated line for only the DSL modem, as shown in Figure 1-5. This
technique requires separate phone line wiring to the location of your DSL modem,
but requires only one phone connection change. You need to have access to your main
phone connection point and be familiar with all of your phone wiring to make this
technique work.
