In the next dialog box, you are asked if you want to use the selected printer
as your default printer??”the option is up to you. The final result of adding
this printer is an icon and label representing the printer atop the symbol for
a network connection, as shown in Figure 4-7. At this point you??™re done and
ready to print.
Printers and printer drivers are one feature that Windows XP supports pretty
well, if there is driver support for your printer, or you can find a suitable substitute
driver based on manufacturer recommendations. Many two- and three-year-old
printers will have no support for or in Windows Vista, causing certain aggravation.
For most laser printers, you may be able to get by with a generic HP PCL 5 or PCL 6
driver, or a generic PostScript driver.
