You can use the unit
through the USB connection after configuring the drive on the network.
Step 2: Configure the Software
The Ximeta Netdisk network storage software and driver installation wizard takes you
through four basic dialog boxes, and then a Restart dialog box to complete the process.
A restart is necessary to apply the network device drivers and start the driver application
you use to configure and make your drive accessible to the operating system.
After restart, a new icon appears in the notification toolbar at the lower right of
your screen. Right-click the icon and select Register a New Device to open the NDAS
Device Registration Wizard, shown in Figure 5-4. You are beginning the sequence of

making the drive known to your computer, from providing a name for the drive that
is unique to this computer to saving the configuration to make it easier to register the
drive on other computers. Enter a name for the device and click Next.
Each network-attached drive has a unique serial number to identify it on your
network, and a key number that is used to enable write access (so you can actually
put files on the drive). Enter these numbers, as shown in Figure 5-5, and then click
Next.
After the drive is registered, you have the option of mounting the drive to be
written to and read from, to be read only (you cannot write files to the drive), or not
yet mounted (does not appear as a drive in My Computer and is not available until
mounted), as shown in Figure 5-6.
